Where are face-to-face meetings held?

Face to face meetings are held in our office in John St, Sligo F91 PP3X

Do you have parking?

There are multiple car parks within a 3-minute walk of our offices, including Adelaide Street car park (F91 R8EF) and Wine Street car park (F91 F89P).

Do I have to pay for an initial meeting?

No, we do not charge for either the Learn More Call or the first full meeting, which we call the Discovery meeting. You can see the full process we take you through, from the initial Learn More Call to becoming a client here

What do I need to bring to an initial meeting?

Nothing, the Discovery meeting is a chance for us to get to know you better, to get an understanding of what matters most to you and the issue you want to solve. You will also learn more about our service so that you can decide if you would like to work with us.

What happens in the first meeting?

We get to know you better, get a better understanding of what’s important to you and what you want to achieve. You’ll learn about our service and the process involved and be able to decide if you want to work with us.

How long should I allow for an initial meeting?

Usually, 45 minutes to an hour but we’re not on the clock and are happy to devote as much time as you need to the Discovery meeting.

Do I have to sign up to your services at an initial meeting?

You do not. There is no pressure from us and you can take as much time as you like to decide.

Does the Central Bank of Ireland regulate you?

Yes, we are regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and we only offer clients regulated products that best serve the needs of your Plan. We do not offer unregulated products which can involve substantially more risk.

iQ Financial is authorised as an Investment Business Firm under Section 10 of the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995 (as amended).

Registered as an insurance, reinsurance or ancillary insurance intermediary under the European Union (Insurance Distribution) Regulations, 2018.

A Service Provider holding appointments from IIA product producers, including intermediaries that may issue appointments, appearing in the register maintained under Section 31 of the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995 (as amended).

 

 

Do you get commission?

Yes. We are paid commission from third party financial institutions including insurance companies, investment and pension providers.

Do you work with employees as well as business owners?

Our ideal client is a business owner or a couple where one person is a business owner.

Where are you based, and do you work with clients outside your local area?

We’re based in Sligo and we deal with clients all over Ireland. A large portion of our clients live in Connacht and Leinster.

How long does the process take?

Following your initial call, we’ll request information from you and book three meetings to dive deeper into your particular situation and goals. We will present your financial plan and share recommendations with you. This usually takes five to six weeks, depending on how quickly you send information back to us.

Do you offer independent financial advice?

We do. We are regulated and we offer advice based on the needs of our clients. We’ll work with you (and your life partner) to create a written Personal Financial Plan that clearly sets out your priorities, targets and the best way to achieve them. We charge a fee for this Plan. Once it’s completed, we then advise on which financial products can best help implement it. We’re not tied to any insurance company or investment firm — all recommendations are driven solely by your Personal Financial Plan and what’s best for you. We are not tied to any one insurance company or investment firm and recommend products based on what’s best for our clients

Can I choose between meeting in person or on a video call?

You can. We offer face to face at our office in Sligo or video calls/virtual meetings using zoom.

How long has iQ Financial been providing financial advice?

We celebrated our 20th year in business in 2025. Our owners Coman and Enda Brady have a combined 65 years’ experience in financial services.

What happens if my financial planner is away on holiday?

We operate as a team and share knowledge on all clients with each other. We have 2 financial planners who try to ensure that they are not away at the same time so that there is always someone here who will be able to help you, no matter what your query is.

How often will I hear from my financial adviser or planner?

We hold annual Future Planning Meetings which are the cornerstone of our long-term relationship with clients. We put no limit on the number of meetings we hold when a client has something they need sorted. Our clients get in touch by phone and email whenever they have a query. We’re in regular contact. We will also be in touch on numerous occasions during the year – 2 investment updates, 4 webinars designed to add value for our clients, monthly newsletters with bespoke articles that should be of interest and ad hoc communications with relevant information as it arises.

Do you offer cashflow forecasting/planning as part of your service?

We do. We use best in class financial planning software to show you what your financial life looks like today and project what it will look in the years and decades ahead.

What happens if my circumstances change?

Your circumstances will definitely change and we’re here to ensure that we help you adjust your plans as the changes occur. Our Future Planning meetings are a vital part of the process ensuring we understand the changes in a timely manner and tweak your plan if necessary.

Can you work alongside my accountant or solicitor?

Planning efficiently is a team sport and we are delighted to work in tandem with your accountant, solicitor and tax adviser.

Can you co-ordinate with my mortgage adviser if they need information from you?

With your permission, we’re happy to co-ordinate with any adviser you have to free up your time and ensure the information we have is up to date.

What happens if my adviser leaves the firm?

Our 2 advisers own the firm, have been in business for 20 years and have no intention of retiring any time soon. However, in the event of one adviser leaving, we will ensure that your new adviser knows all about you, has met you and will have a long period of working in tandem with your existing adviser to ensure a smooth transition. We will also ensure that your new adviser is capable of maintaining and improving the service and advice you get.

Can I see an example of a financial plan?

Yes, we’re happy to show you an example at our first meeting to help you understand the benefits you will get from having a solid, well thought out financial plan.

Will I be able to see the value of my investments online?

Yes, you will have secure online access to real time information on your investments from the comfort of your own home.

Do you provide an online portal for clients to view their investments?

Online portals are provided by third party investment managers so that you have real time access to your investments.

How often will I meet with my adviser or planner?

At least once a year and there is no limit to the number of meetings we will have with you as things arise.

Can you advise on mortgages?

Can you advise on personal pensions?

Yes, advising clients on their personal pensions is something we do every day.

Can you help me consolidate multiple pensions?

Yes, simplifying your financial structure can have many benefits and consolidating your pensions can help you to keep things simple and make it easier to track your finances.

Can you help me take my pension tax-efficiently?

Yes, advising clients on the optimal way to draw down your pension is something we do every day.

Can you help with ethical or sustainable investing?

We discuss ethical and sustainable investments with all clients. At present, we do not consider sustainability when choosing investment funds and this is something we review every year.

Can you help me invest an inheritance I’ve received?

We can, helping clients invest inheritances and other windfalls is an area where we have a lot of experience.

Can you advise on how to use my pension to buy property, and whether that’s the right thing to do?

Yes, we can

Can you advise on Final Salary or Defined Benefit transfers?

Do you offer advice on long-term care or later-life planning?

We do as part of our long-term financial planning with clients.

Can you help with Inheritance Tax planning or estate planning?

We can and this is an area where we like to work in tandem with your other advisers including your accountant/tax adviser and your solicitor.

Can you advise on insurance such as life insurance, critical illness cover, and income replacement?

Yes, we can advise and arrange insurance products for clients and for their business.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

We do.

How do you charge for financial advice?

We charge an annual fee of 1% of the assets we manage on your behalf with a minimum fee of €5,000.

What is your minimum fee?

€5,000 per annum

What do you typically charge for a financial plan?

€3,000

Do you charge fixed fees or a percentage of my investments?

Fixed fee for your Financial Plan of €3,000 and 1% pa of the assets we manage on your behalf.

Do you charge VAT?

We do not charge VAT

How do I know if your fees are competitive?

We’re happy to discuss this with you and provide comparable information so you can see how competitive we are.

How do your fees compare to other advisers/planners?

Higher than some, lower than others, but we believe our value is beyond comparison.

We can, this is one of the top priorities we help clients achieve.

Yes, we have helped clients manage their finances after all types of major life events. We understand the issues that will arise and can help you navigate them with as little stress as possible.

Do you specialise in working with business owners, retirees, or professionals?

We work with all these people and mainly with business owners and professionals.

Can you help if I already have existing investments or pensions elsewhere?

Yes, we can.

Is there a minimum amount of investable assets or income I need to become a client?

No minimum investable assets or income. Our annual minimum fee is €5,000.

Are my investments protected by the Investor Compensation Scheme?

Yes

What happens if something goes wrong or I have a complaint?

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman, 3rd Floor, Lincoln House, Lincoln Place, Dublin 2 (1890 882 090).

How do you keep my personal data secure?

We take the security of your personal information very seriously. Access to client data is strictly controlled, ensuring only authorised staff can reach sensitive information. Our IT systems are protected with firewalls, secure website certificates, and up-to-date antivirus software, and we carry cyber insurance to provide an extra layer of protection. We also maintain a robust backup policy and have a comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plan, so that in the unlikely event of an incident, we can continue to serve you securely and without interruption.

Are you insured to give financial advice?

Yes, we have Professional Indemnity Insurance with nearly €2 million of cover. This is a regulatory requirement to protect clients if there’s ever a question about the advice we give. It specifically covers the advice we provide on activities and products regulated by The Central Bank of Ireland, Revenue, and the Pensions Authority.

How do you measure client satisfaction?

We use a combination of tools to ensure we understand how our clients experience our service and where we can improve. On average, every two years, we participate in the Dimensional Fund Advisors Investor Study, a respected survey that gathers feedback from clients on their experiences and expectations. We also monitor client feedback through Google Reviews, Trustpilot, and our formal yearly future planning meetings, where we actively ask for insights on how we can enhance our service.
